Link4Cooperation project beneficiaries

Link4Cooperation project activities are designed to strengthen the influence of civil society and make decisions in public policies at the local level in Bosnia and Herzegovina in accordance with the EU accession process. All project activities contribute to a favorable legal and financial environment at the local level; participation and networking, as well as cooperation between local authorities and civil society organizations (CSOs). The aim of the project is to strengthen civil society through well-developed capacity building activities, but also through awareness raising activities that would improve their position as stakeholders in public policies. On the other hand, the project is designed to promote and apply 12 principles of good governance and the European Label of Governance Excellence (ELoGE) among 12 local governments in BiH. The project is led by civil society organizations from Bosnia and Herzegovina, with professional support, exchange of best practices and transfer of knowledge from regional and international partners. Cross-sectoral cooperation is encouraged by involving local governments (12 municipalities / cities from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina) as the main political actors at the local level and 20 local civil society organizations with the mentioned areas. The project addresses issues related to intersectoral dialogue and participatory democracy in BiH, creating an environment for CSOs, building the capacity of local civil society organizations for networking and building partnerships with local authorities, contributing to the socio-economic development of the country.

Municipality of Berkovići

The Municipality of Berkovići has about 2.000 inhabitants. It is located in the south of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Dabarsko field. Territorially it belongs to the entity of Republika Srpska. The Municipality consists of 20 inhabited places. The municipality’s economy is based on agriculture, livestock and eco-tourism. The Municipality is managed by the Mayor, and the representative body is the Municipal Assembly.

Municipality of Jablanica

The Municipality of Jablanica with its 301 km² area and 10.111 inhabitants is one of the smaller municipalities in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is located in the valley of the river Neretva, between the mountains Prenj and Čvrsnica, which with their beautiful valley open a cliff canyon more than 30 kilometers long. The City itself is located on several terraces at an altitude of 202 meters. Jablanica is one of the 9 municipalities of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton. The area of ​​the Municipality includes 9 local communities with 42 branches. It is administratively structured in such a way that it has a Mayor, a Municipal Council and 6 municipal services.

Municipality of Kostajnica

The Municipality of Kostajnica is located in the northwestern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the entity of Republika Srpska. It is located on the river Una, on the border with Croatia. Like other municipalities, the administrative structure consists of the Mayor and the Municipal Assembly. The Municipality consists of 2 departments: the Department of General Administration and the Department of Economy, Finance and Social Affairs.

Municipality of Maglaj

The Municipality of Maglaj is located in Zenica-Doboj County. The administration is managed by the Mayor. Maglaj has 5 services: the Office of the Mayor and the Municipal Council, the Service for Economy, Finance and Entrepreneurship Development, the Service for Urbanism, Geodetic and Property Affairs, the Service for Veterans and Disabled Protection, General Administration and Social Activities and the Civil Protection Service. The Municipal Council performs legislative tasks in accordance with the statute.

City of Mostar

The City of Mostar is located in the south of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Territorially, it is a part of Federation of BiH. It is the cultural and economic center of Herzegovina, and the administrative seat of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton. The City of Mostar is managed by the City Administration and the City Council. The City administration has 5 departments.

The City Council is the highest body of the City of Mostar, responsible for overseeing the work of the City Administration and the Mayor. Each Councilor is a representative of the citizens. The City Council is unicameral and consists of 35 councilors, has a president and two deputies, who cannot be from the same constituent peoples. The Council makes all decisions by a majority vote of the total number of elected councilors.

Municipality of Nevesinje

The Municipality of Nevesinje is located in the southeast of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in eastern Herzegovina and belongs to the entity of Republika Srpska. The Municipality is administratively organized in such a way that the basic functions are performed by the Mayor and the Municipal Assembly. The Mayor represents the Municipality, is the holder of executive power, manages the municipal administrative service and is responsible for its work. The Municipal Assembly is the decision-making and policy-making body of the Municipality.

Municipality of Novi Grad

The Municipality of Novi Grad is located in the north of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at the confluence of the Sana and Una, in the entity of Republika Srpska. The executive power of the Municipality consists of the Mayor and the Administration, which has 5 departments. Legislative power is exercised by the Municipal Assembly, which has 16 committees.

City of Prijedor

The City of Prijedor is located in the northwestern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the entity of Republika Srpska, on the banks of the rivers Sana and Gomjenica and on the slopes of Mount Kozara. According to the last census in 2013, 97.588 inhabitants were registered in the area of ​​the City of Prijedor, living in 71 settlements (organized in 49 local communities). The City is managed by the Mayor through the City Administration which has 8 departments. Legislative tasks are performed by the City Assembly. It is a representative body, a decision-making and policy-making body of the City.

Municipality of Ravno

The Municipality of Ravno is located in the south of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It belongs to the entity of the Federation of BiH. It has 3 professional services: Service for General Administration, Companies, Joint Affairs and Civil Protection, Service for Economy, Finance and Local Development and Service for Construction, Physical Planning, Geodetic and Property Affairs. At the top of the administration is the Mayor. The Municipal Council is a representative body of the citizens of the Municipality of Ravno, which is the highest authority of the Municipality. The Municipal Council has 15 councilors.

City of Trebinje

The City of Trebinje is located in the extreme south of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the entity of Republika Srpska. According to the latest estimates, Trebinje has about 32.000 citizens. The bodies of the City are the Assembly and the Mayor. The City Assembly is a representative body of the citizens of the city and a decision-making and policy-making body of the City. The Mayor represents the City, is the holder of executive power, manages the Administrative Service and is responsible for its work.

City of Zavidovići

City of Zavidovići is located in the central part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the entity of the Federation of BiH. It lies on the rivers Bosna, Krivaja and Gostović. City has about 36.000 inhabitants. City is managed by the Mayor, and 9 professional services are at the service of the citizens. The City Council is a representative body that performs legislative tasks for a term of 4 years.

Municipality of Žepče is located in Zenica-Doboj Canton, in the entity of the Federation of BiH. The Municipality has about 30.000 inhabitants. Executive power is exercised by the Mayor in accordance with the statute. The Administration consists of 5 services: Professional Service of the Municipal Council and the Mayor, Service for General Administration and Social Activities, Service for Economy and Finance, Service for Construction and Physical Planning and Service for Civil Protection and Fire Brigade.
